UAB Men’s Soccer Heads West to New Mexico

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's soccer team picks back up Conference USA play with a trip to New Mexico Saturday, Oct. 14. Kick between the Blazers and Lobos is set for 8 p.m. CT from the UNM Soccer Complex.
The Blazers enter Saturday with a 3-4-3 record and a 0-3-1 mark in league play but are coming off of a 2-1 victory over Central Arkansas. Aidan O'Hara and Massimo Ferrin both found the back of the net while keeper James Teal made a career high six saves in the victory.
Ferrin leads the UAB offensive attack with four goals and nine points. The sophomore midfielder is tied for sixth in C-USA in goals and goals per game (0.4).
After Ferrin it has been a balanced offense for the Blazers as seven different players have scored for the Green and Gold. Rami Dajani leads that group with two while five of the six have picked up their first career goals.
New Mexico enters Saturday's contest with a 7-3-1 mark and are unbeaten in its last four matches outscoring opponents 10-5. The Lobos average 2.0 goals per game with a 46.3 shot on goal percentage. In league play they lead the conference in shots with 59.
Aaron Herrera and Devin Boyce lead the balanced New Mexico offensive attack. Herrera paces the team in goals with four and co-leads in assists with four. Boyce ranks second on the team in goals with three and is tied in assists with Herrera.
UAB and New Mexico are meeting for the sixth time in program history on Saturday night. The Lobos lead the series 4-1-0 and are undefeated on their home turf.
Following Saturday night's match the Blazers return home for a two game stand beginning Tuesday, Oct. 17 against Georgia Southern. Kick between the Blazers and Eagles is slated for 7 p.m. from BBVA Compass Field.
