UAB Bowling Picks Up Two Wins On Final Day

FINAL RESULTS
JONESBORO, Ark. – The No. 23 UAB Bowling team used a strong final day to move up two spots and finish in sixth place at the Mid-Winter Invitational.
“The team did amazing today,” head coach Michelle Crews said. “They pulled out huge wins against Central Missouri and Maryland Eastern Shore. We went into the final match with Arkansas State and fought really hard but came up a little bit short. I’m very proud of the progress this team has down shown in bracket play this year. They have come a really long way but we still have lots of work to do as we get closer to post-season.”
UAB faced off against Central Missouri to begin the day. The Blazers and Mules battled each other into a winner take all game-7 before UAB prevailed 171-167 and won the match 4-3.
The win set up a match win Maryland Eastern Shore which proved to be no problem for UAB as they took down the Hawks in four straight games.
The Blazers final match of the tournament came against Arkansas State. The teams traded wins in the first two games before Red Wolves picked up consecutive wins. The Blazers claimed a win in game five but Arkansas State would put UAB away in the sixth game to win the match 4-2.
Nebraska took home team honors defeating McKendree, 4-2, in the championship match.
UAB takes a few weeks off before returning to the lanes February 10-12 with a trip to Houston to compete in Stephen F. Austin’s Jacks Invitational.
