BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's soccer team conclude a stretch of five straight home games and enter the second half of their regular season when they host Howard on Tuesday night. UAB enters with a 3-2-3 record while Howard stands at 1-7-2 this season.
Each team is trending in opposite directions as UAB has excelled at home going 2-0-1 in their last three contests at BBVA Compass Field while the Bison are 0-4-1 on the road and have not won a game in their last seven contests (0-5-2).
"I thought we had a really good performance the other night," said UAB head coach Mike Getman. "The team is feeling good and upbeat. We've played better and better every game of the season."

LAST TIME OUT
The UAB men's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Old Dominion on Saturday night at BBVA Compass Field. The Blazers dominated the game in scoring chances but were unable to net a goal. This was the first positive result for UAB against Old Dominion in school history. The Monarchs had won the previous seven meetings between the two schools.
UAB opened the game with multiple opportunities to score in the beginning of the first half. Defender James Ngoe, following his second career goal against Marshall last week, nearly scored after a brilliant series of moves in the 53rd minute. The Bradford, England, native caused two Monarch defenders to hit the dirt after a series of jukes that left him one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The ODU goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen did just enough to get a hand on it and keep the clean sheet.
The two teams didn't produce many scoring chances in the overtime period. The Blazers outshot the Monarchs 14-9 in the game and forward Massimo Ferrin led the contest with six shots.
FERRIN'S BARRAGE
Massimo Ferrin fired off six shots himself in the draw on Saturday night, one shot shy of cracking the top five in school history for a single game. The freshman forward has 24 shots this season, tied for the 64th most in the nation and fourth-most in the conference. Ferrin has made an instant impact this season as his two goals and four points are tied for the team lead.
SCOUTING HOWARD
The Bison struggled last season, failing to pick-up a victory over 19 games (0-17-2). They are 1-28-4 over the last 33 games including opening this season 1-7-2. Howard has been shutout in its last four games last scoring in a 1-1 tie versus LIU Brooklyn.
The Sun Belt representative is led in scoring by Andres Gomez. The freshman midfielder has tallied both of his goals in the Bison' 2-0 victory over VMI. Gomez has played in seven games this season and is second on the team with 10 shots.
"They are a very athletic and skillful team," said Getman. "It's also a team we've never played before so we don't know each other well. You scout and do the best you can but until you get on the field, your not really sure what your opponent is going to be like so that in itself presents a challenge."
