UAB Softball Announces 2016 Fall Schedule

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Five games at Mary Bowers Field and one in-state tournament highlight the 2016 UAB softball fall schedule, head coach Marla Townsend announced Thursday.
“I am extremely excited to see this competitive group of ladies on the field,” Townsend said. “They have worked hard in the weight room and on the field to prepare for our fall season.”
The Blazers jumpstart the fall by playing host to Snead State in a doubleheader on Thursday, Sept. 22. UAB closes the month on Sept. 30 with a home doubleheader against Gulf Coast State College.
On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Blazers travel to Oxford, Ala., to compete in the Tera Ross Memorial Tournament. UAB opens the one-day tournament by facing Shelton State at 10 a.m. and Gulf Coast State at 1:30 p.m. The Blazers’ take on Wallace Community College at 3:15 p.m. for their final game of the tournament.
UAB returns home to host Southern Union on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. and will wrap up fall ball on Tuesday, Oct. 11 with a game against Miles Community College at 4 p.m.
The Blazers finished the 2015 season 27-32 and went 14-10 in Conference USA play and finished runners-up in the conference tournament.
