BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB men’s soccer head coach Mike Getman and the rest of the program hosts its annual youth clinic this Saturday, August 20. The clinic is set to start at 2:30 p.m. with the gates opening at 1:30 p.m. at the practice field adjacent to BBVA Compass Field and is free to the public.
“Our annual Youth Clinic is one of the most exciting days of the season,” said Getman. “Our coaches and players enjoy getting to spend time working with younger players and passing on our love for the game.”
Boys and girls ages 5-18 are invited to participate. A free soccer ball and free dinner provided by Full Moon BBQ are included for players and their parents at 4 p.m.
There is no registration required for the clinic. The Blazers host Louisville later that night at 5 p.m. and participants and their families are encouraged to stay as players will be signing autographs after the game. Game tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for fans under 18 years old.
“Each of the last few years we have had over 500 kids in attendance,” said Getman. “Not only do we get to teach them some of the skills of the game, but they have added a great atmosphere and great support to our team as we take on a top tier opponent.”
