BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following standout seasons and leading UAB to a second-place Conference USA regular-season and tournament finish, UAB softball’s Caitlin Attfield, JoJo Fallen and Mary Warren were named to the NFCA Mideast All-Region Team, the organization announced Thursday.
With Attfield’s selection to the Mideast First Team, UAB has placed a student-athlete on the first team for the sixth consecutive season. The Niagara Falls, New York, native has earned NFCA All-Region honors all four seasons of her career, including being named to the first team in three consecutive seasons.
Fallen and Warren earned their first NFCA All-Region honors of their careers as both juniors were selected to the Mideast Third Team.
Attfield closed her senior season with a .356 average, .418 on-base percentage, 69 hits, three triples and 41 runs scored, leading the team in each category. The shortstop closed her final season in a Blazer uniform by setting seven UAB career records, while becoming the first Blazer to be professionally drafted by the National Pro Fastpitch league as she was selected ninth overall by the Dallas Charge earlier this season.
The shortstop adds to her postseason accolades as she earned Conference USA First Team and All-Tournament Team honors to close her campaign.
Fallen compiled a breakout junior campaign to earn Mideast Third Team honors as she ranked second on the Blazer squad in average (.352), slugging percentage (.506), runs scored (31), hits (62) and third in RBIs (27).
The outfielder slugged a team-leading 14 doubles this season, ranking seventh in the league. The Prattville, Alabama, native earns her third postseason accolade as she was named to the C-USA All-Academic and All-Tournament teams.
Warren slugged through competition during her junior season, serving as the Blazers’ designated player. The Ocoee, Florida, native closed the season with a .309 average, third-best on the squad, while leading UAB with a .566 slugging percentage, 11 home runs and 36 RBIs.
The junior earned her first All-Conference USA honors after ending the regular season ranked fourth in the conference with a .420 average and third with a .754 slugging percentage, while driving in the second-most RBIs with 23 in league contests.
The Blazer trio are eligible for NFCA All-American honors. NFCA Division I All-Americans will be announced by the organization Wednesday, June 1.
