Getman Announces 2016 Men's Soccer Slate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s soccer team and head coach Mike Getman announced the schedule for 2016 on Thursday. UAB will host 12 home matches, while hitting the road for eight contests, including an exhibition game at Clemson.
"I am excited about our 2016 schedule,” Getman said. “It will be one of the toughest in the nation so I am confident it will prepare us for postseason play. I also like that we have some opponents that we have not faced in the past - creating new rivalries is always exciting!"
Highlighting the Blazers’ nonconference slate are home contests against Memphis, Xavier and Santa Clara.
UAB kicks off its season on the road with an exhibition at No. 2 Clemson. The Blazers return to the friendly confines of BBVA Compass Field for a pair of exhibition matches. First up, UAB plays host to AUM on Aug. 16 before welcoming Louisville on Aug. 20.
The Blazers open regular-season play Aug. 26 against longtime rival Memphis before hosting Xavier on Aug. 28.
UAB then hits the road to UNC Greensboro and Coastal Carolina on Sept. 2 and 5, respectively.
The Blazers return to Birmingham to host the UAB Soccer For A Cure Classic in early September and will face off against Tulsa on Sept. 8, and Rhode Island on Sept. 11.
UAB kicks off conference play Sept. 17 as it hosts Marshall (Sept. 17) and Old Dominion (Sept. 24). The Green and Gold continues its three-game home stretch with Howard on Sept. 27 to conclude its September schedule.
To open play in October, UAB heads to Boca Raton to compete against Florida Atlantic on the 1st.
UAB returns to BBVA Compass Field for a pair of games. First, UAB hosts Santa Clara for the first time in program history Oct. 4. Then, UAB continues C-USA play Oct. 8 against Kentucky.
The Blazers hit the road for three straight games as they travels to Lipscomb (Oct. 11), South Carolina (Oct. 15) and Charlotte (Oct. 22).
UAB concludes its home schedule Oct. 26 as it hosts New Mexico. UAB caps off its regular season in Miami at FIU on Nov. 5.
The Blazers await placement for the Conference USA Tournament, hosted by Marshall. The tournament begins Nov. 9 and concludes on the 13th.
