BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB softball team turns its focus to Conference USA action as the Blazers travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for a three-game conference series.

UAB has won 15 or more conference games in each of the last six seasons and was selected to finish third in the league in the 2016 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Blazers hold a 194-174 all-time record in Conference USA action.
The Blazers hold a 28-24 advantage in the all-time series against the Golden Eagles and have won the last five contests. Since the 2010 season, UAB leads the all-time series, 17-2.
UAB enters the weekend with its first true road victory of the season after defeating Jacksonville State, 3-0, on Wednesday.
Junior JoJo Fallen leads the Blazers with a .377 batting average, .458 on-base percentage and 10 RBIs. The left fielder ranks 10th in the league in on-base percentage and 11th in average.
Senior Caitlin Attfield leads UAB in runs scored (13) and hits (27). The shortstop has recorded just two strikeouts in 78 at-bats and has not struck out in her last 47 plate appearances. The Niagara Falls, New York, native leads the conference and ranks 36th in the nation as the toughest to strike out.
Junior Cara Goodwin leads UAB in the circle with a 6-3 record and a team-low 3.69 over 81.2 innings pitched. The right-hander ranks tied for fourth in the conference with 71 strikeouts, while opponents bat just .236 against her, eighth-best in the league.
Southern Miss opened conference play last weekend dropping the series, 2-1, to Middle Tennessee. The Golden Eagles enter the weekend off a midweek loss to South Alabama, 5-1.
Tori Dew leads the Golden Eagles with a .354 average with 29 hits, 14 runs scored and 13 RBIs. With 20 RBIs, 11th-most in the conference, Katie Cleary leads Southern Miss. Cleary bats at a .341 clip and has notched 29 hits this season.
The Southern Miss pitching staff is led by Samantha Robles with a .355 ERA over 102.2 innings pitched. Robles has struck out a team-high 60 batters and has issued just 28 walks.
