UAB Softball to Have Six Games Televised

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB softball team will see ample time center stage this season with six games nationally aired after Conference USA announced its television schedule Tuesday.
“We are excited to continue adding exposure to our program and look forward to showcasing UAB this season,” said head coach Marla Townsend.
Four non-conference matchups are scheduled for coverage over ESPN’s family of networks. UAB’s rematch with its 2013 Gainesville Super Regional foe, No. 1 Florida, will be aired on ESPN3 Friday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m.
The contest is part of the Citrus Classic tournament in Orlando, Fla., where the Blazers also face SEC opponents No. 15/12 Missouri and No. 12/14 Georgia.
The Blazers are scheduled to make three appearances on the SEC Network. UAB’s March 4 meeting with Tennessee as part of the Tennessee Invitational airs at 2 p.m. on the SEC Network+. The Green and Gold are slated to have two 6 p.m. showdowns on the SEC Network this season against (RV) Mississippi on March 30 and Ole Miss on April 27.
Tuesday’s announcement of the C-USA television lineup adds two home contests to the Blazers’ television schedule. UAB welcomes Marshall on April 2 for conference action. The first game of the doubleheader airs at noon on the Fox Sports Network.
The Blazers final regular season television appearance is set for May 1 on the American Sports Network as ASN covers the first game of UAB’s doubleheader with conference for UTSA at 1 p.m.
The first three rounds of the Conference USA Tournament air on the C-USA Digital Network with the championship game set to air on the CBS Sports Network.
The Blazers are currently receiving votes in the NFCA/USA Today Preseason Coaches’ Poll and were selected to finish third in the conference by the league’s coaches. Seniors Caitlin Attfield and Sara Beth Williamson were both selected to the Preseason All-C-USA Team with Attfield earning Preseason Player of the Year honors.
UAB begins it season Thursday in Mobile, Ala., against in-state foe No. 25 South Alabama before tournament action all weekend at the NCAA Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala.
