BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s tennis team (2-6) fell to No. 25 Mississippi State (6-1) Friday afternoon at George Ward Park, 7-0.
“We had the chance today to play one of the better teams in the nation,” head coach Mark Tija said. “It will helps us later down the road.”
Pardis Kianoush put up a fight on court one as she pushed the No. 9-ranked singles player in the nation, the Bulldogs’ Jasmine Lee, to three sets.
“The highlight for us was Pardis, who went to a third set super tiebreak with the ninth-ranked player in the country,” Tija added.
The Blazers fell in doubles play as MSU took down UAB quickly on courts two and three. The Blazers fought tooth and nail with the No. 51-ranked doubles tandem in the NCAA, but fell on court one, 6-4.
