BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB women's tennis team opens its fall schedule this weekend with a three-day event at the Midland Intercollegiate in Midland, Texas.
The tournament will begin on Friday and run through Sunday.
Four players will represent the Blazers in singles and doubles play. Scheduled to participate for UAB are senior Amy Lowther, junior Pardis Kianoush, sophomore transfer Alex Corder and freshman McKenna Root. Corder is a transfer from Mississippi State.
"We are always excited to play the Midland Intercollegiate," said head coach Mark Tjia. "They always do a great job of putting on a first class event, one of the best fall events in the nation in my opinion. I'm also excited to see some of our new girls compete for the first time. It is also nice to face some schools we don't normally get to see during the course of the season. The level is very high here in this national tournament and we are excited to get the fall rolling tomorrow."
There will be "A" and "B" Division draws in both singles and doubles. All four Blazers will compete in singles with Corder and Kianoush pairing in doubles as well as Lowther and Root.
