BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A week away from the start of the 2015 regular season, UAB's men's soccer team hosts No. 11 Clemson Saturday at West Campus Field at 7 p.m. in the final exhibition match of the preseason.

First Kick
- UAB closes its 2015 exhibition slate Saturday vs. perennial powerhouse No. 11 Clemson at West Campus Field.
- The 2015 season marks the second-straight year the Blazers play the Tigers in preseason action, as the Green and Gold dropped a 2-0 decision last fall to open the exhibition schedule.
- Saturday's match is the first of 10 times the Blazers will play at West Campus Field this season. UAB hosts its annual "Soccer for a Cure" Classic Sept. 11-13, before hosting four C-USA opponents (South Carolina, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte).
- The Green and Gold held a comfortable advantage for most of the match over No. 18 Louisville Tuesday night in exhibition play, before falling in penalty kicks after two late goals by the Cardinals in regulation.
Scouting The Opponent
No. 11 Clemson has earned respect early in the preseason, after being picked to finish second in the ACC according to the league's head coaches. The Tigers were picked second overall behind the defending National Champion Virginia Cavaliers.
Clemson won its first two exhibition matches vs. Presbyterian College and Campbell. The trip for the Tigers to Birmingham is the lone one away from home until mid-September when conference play begins.
The Tigers captured their 14th ACC men's soccer championship in 2014, defeating Louisville 2-1 in the championship match. The Tigers also advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, eventually falling 2-1 against North Carolina.
Game Promotions
The Blazers will host their annual free youth clinic prior to the match Saturday. Gates open at 3:30 p.m., and the clinic will begin at 4:30 p.m. Boys and girls of all ages are invited to participate and no registration is required.
Participants will have the chance to get up close with current UAB players and coaches, led by head coach Mike Getman in a fun, instructional clinic at UAB's West Campus Field.
The first 400 children to arrive will receive a free soccer ball courtesy of Alabama Power, and Full Moon BBQ will provide free dinner for all at 6 p.m.

Looking Ahead
UAB opens the 2015 regular season Friday, Aug. 28 at Memphis. The home opener is slated for Sunday, Aug. 30 against Stetson at 5 p.m. at West Campus Field.
