Blazers Fall In Quarterfinals At Mercer Gridiron Classic

MACON, Ga. ---- The UAB women’s tennis team came up short in quarterfinal matches Saturday on the second day of play at the Mercer Gridiron Classic.
Elaine Simon fell to Mercer’s Xandra Fougner in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, in the “A” Flight. Catherine Ragon dropped a 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 decision to Troy’s Efrilya Herlina in the “B” Flight while Reghan Lynch fell 6-3, 6-4 to Mercer’s Liza Klyachina.
In “B” Flight Doubles, Ragon and Lynch dropped their quarterfinal doubles match Satuday, falling 7-6, 6-0 to the Auburn team of Alannah Turner and Caroline Griffin.
Play will continue on Sunday in the three-day event.
