Blazers Wrap Up Play At Steve Baras Fall Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The UAB women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Steve Baras Fall Classic on Sunday, concluding an impressive weekend at the event.
The UAB doubles tandem of Amy Lowther and Pardis Kianoush won the Silver Draw in doubles, running past their Western Carolina counterparts, 8-2, before downing Middle Tennessee's duo of Sarah Sidri and Alexandra Torres, 8-5, in Sunday's championship match.
UAB's tandem of Caroline Faught and Catherine Ragon made it all the way to the consolation championship match before taking an 8-3 defeat to Samford's pair of Carita Moolman and Stephanie N'tcha.
In singles, both Lowther and Elaine Simon made it to the championships of their respective draws with wins on Saturday. Simon defeated Chattanooga's Claire Mulyadi, 7-6 (3), 6-3, while Lowther ousted Western Carolina's Nicole Nielly, 7-5, 6-2 in the championship match before falling in the finals contest.
Rounding out play for the Blazers was Ragon, who took a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Chattanooga's Alison Storie in semifinal action.
