UAB Softball Alumni To Host USSSA Pride

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB softball alumni will host the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league’s USSSA Pride at UAB Softball Field on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.
“UAB is honored to be hosting the 2014 NPF Champions,” said head coach Marla Townsend. “The USSSA Pride will bring a lot of familiar faces to Birmingham and it will be a fun night for softball fans. Our alumni team is excited to once again represent the Blazers in Green and Gold as they take on the Pride.”
The alumni representing the Blazers include Lannah Campbell, who was UAB’s first player to compete in the NPF with the Akron Racers, assistant coaches Amanda Ellis and Erica Sisson, and undergraduate student assistant coaches Leigh Streetman, Kristen McGrath, Megan McGrath and Kate Armstrong.
Additionally, Lauren Webster, Whitney Fletcher and Anna Kimbrell will compete for the alumni. Nine of the alums representing UAB were instrumental in the Blazers' streak of five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Pride finished the 2014 NPF season as regular and postseason champions. Andrea Duran took home NPF Player of the Year honors, Cat Osterman won NPF Pitcher of the Year, Madison Shipman was named the NPF Rookie of the Year and Breja’e Washington was awarded the Golden Spikes Award as the NPF’s top base stealer.
