Blazers Complete First Day At Samford Fall Round Robin

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB’s women’s tennis team finished its first day of competition at the Samford Fall Round Robin on Friday, picking up two doubles wins and a singles victory at the Samford Tennis Complex.
UAB competed against Troy in doubles and against South Alabama in singles during Friday’s action.
The Blazers picked up wins from the doubles team of Catherine Ragon and Pardis Kianoush, who defeated Troy’s pair of Sanae Ohta and Linnea Skymberg, 8-4. UAB also got a doubles victory from the tandem of Elaine Simon and Amy Lowther, who ousted the Trojan team of Brooke Durden and Jessica Albuquerque, 8-1.
In singles action, Blazer Rachel Daniell was the lone winner with a 6-3, 7-6 triumph against South Alabama’s Laura Valkova.
UAB will now play Samford in doubles action on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT and will play against Troy in singles following doubles action.
