BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB’s women’s tennis team makes the short trek across town to compete in the Samford Invitational this weekend on the Samford University campus.
This year’s event features in-state schools South Alabama, Troy, Samford and UAB. The three-day event will consist of a round-robin format with eight singles flights and four doubles brackets. There will be a single champion awarded for each flight.
The Blazers have already had an impressive fall, having already competed in three tournaments. Earlier this year, the doubles team of Amy Lowther and Pardis Kianoush won the Silver Draw at the Steve Baras Fall Classic, while Lowther and Elaine Simon advanced to the Championship matches of their respective singles draws in that event.
UAB also picked up several wins in the ITA Regionals last weekend with Simon and Catherine Ragon advancing to the Final 16 of singles consolation competition.
