BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB bowling team returns to action at the Red Flash Invitational hosted by Saint Francis University after having a week off.
The Blazers most recently finished 10th at the Mid-Winter Invitational, where they earned wins over two top 10 teams. UAB defeated No. 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater and No. 8 Vanderbilt in the tournament.
In the win over Vanderbilt, junior Marissa Ferreira led the team in shooting with a career-high 274 and junior Ali Long also bowled a career-high in that game with a 256.
As part of the individual competition on Saturday three Blazers heard career-high averages. Ferreira led the team with a total pinfall of 1012 for a 202.4 average and finished 17th out of over 100 competitors.
Junior Jennafer Mellott was second on the team with total pinfall of 963. She averaged 192.6 to finish 26th at the tournament, and Long was third on the team with total pinfall of 954 and averaging 190.8 to take 32nd.
