BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — UAB women's tennis player Rachel Daniell has been named to the 2013 Conference USA Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Daniell, a sophomore majoring in biology (pre-medicine), boasts a 3.92 GPA in her second season at UAB. The Douglasville, Ga., native is one of just two Blazers all-time to be named to the C-USA All-Academic Team as Jenny Cape garnered the honor three times during her UAB career.
"I am so proud of Rachel for being in such an elite group in Conference USA," UAB head coach Lisa Jackson said. "All of her hard work has paid off and I look forward to her future success here at UAB."
On the court, Daniell is currently second on the team in singles wins with a 13-6 record, playing mostly at the No. 2 spot. In doubles, Daniell has eight wins, which is the third-best total on the squad.
UAB faces Old Dominion on Thursday in the opening round of the 2013 Conference USA Championship. Match time between the No. 8 seed Blazers and No. 9 seed ODU is scheduled for Noon CT.
