Women's Tennis Finishes Second Day At Roberta Alison

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The UAB women’s tennis team wrapped up its second day of competition at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Saturday with some big wins in both singles and doubles.
UAB's tandem of Rachel Daniell and Caroline Faught defeated Northwestern's team of Rooney and Peri, 8-7 (5), before falling in the championship round of the Melissa Day Draw, 8-5, to Alabama’s Carmen Blanco and Emily Zabor.
Daniell carried over that strong play into singles, where she took a 6-1, 7-5 win before falling in the consolation singles final of the Weyli Chang Draw.
Faught made an equally impressive run in the consolation side of her draw, picking up a tight 7-5, 7-6 (3) win to advance before falling in the consolation final.
Meanwhile, Blazer Elaine Simon took a 6-3, 7-5 victory and advanced to the consolation championship match on Saturday, where she took a 7-5, 6-3 defeat.
