BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB men's basketball team returns to Bartow Arena on Thursday to face in-state rival Troy at 7 p.m. CT.
The Blazers enter Thursday's contest fresh off a thrilling 79-76 win against Rutgers on Monday. UAB is currently 2-0 on the year and looks to go 3-0 for just the 11th time in school history.

Five Things To Know
• UAB leads the all-time series vs. Troy, 6-0. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams at Bartow Arena.
• In their last game vs. Rutgers, UAB put up strong numbers with three players posting double-doubles. The last time UAB had three players with double-doubles was in 2010 vs. Troy.
• Forward C.J. Washington has led UAB in scoring in the first two games. In fact, he has held the game-high point total in both contests.
• UAB had 54 rebounds vs. Rutgers. That is the most of any Blazer team since 2001, when UAB recorded 54 against Memphis.
• UAB is just two wins away from 700 all-time wins in school history.

UAB Downs Rutgers In Bartow Classic
» UAB downed Rutgers on Monday night, 79-76, in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Bartow Arena. The Blazers trailed by as many as nine in the second half, but led for the final 2:50 to take the win.
Blazers Own The Boards
» UAB recorded 54 rebounds against Rutgers. That mark was the most since the Blazers recorded 54 against Memphis on Feb. 19, 2001. UAB also recorded 65 in a game that season -- that mark came against Centenary on Feb. 12, 2001.
» UAB doubled Rutgers’ rebound total of 27 as the Blazers had just as many offensive boards (22) as the Scarlet Knights had defensively.
UAB Doubled Up
» UAB had three players record double-doubles against Rutgers (Alihodzic 14 pts., 12 rebs., Washington 18 pts., 10 rebs., Rucker 15 pts., 12 rebs.). That total marked the most since Nov. 29, 2010, when former Blazers Jamarr Sanders, Cameron Moore and Ovie Soko each had double-doubles.
» Alihodzic and Washington posted their first double-doubles, while Rucker’s double-double was the 12th of his UAB career.
Washington, Frazier Quite The Pair
» UAB newcomers C.J. Washington and Chad Frazier were impressive in their Blazer debuts against Columbus State. Washington led all scorers with 17 points, while Frazier boasted a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.
» Frazier’s 10 assists were the most by a Blazer since 14 helpers by former UAB star Aaron Johnson against Southern Miss in 2011.
» Washington has led UAB in scoring (17 vs. CSU and 18 vs. Rutgers) and was the game’s leading scorer in each of the first two contests on the year.
UAB Starting Five Shines
» UAB’s starting five put up strong numbers against Columbus State and Rutgers. C.J. Washington, Rod Rucker, Fahro Alihodzic, Chad Frazier and Jordan Swing went a combined 24-of-38 (63.2 percent) shooting from the field against the Cougars as four of the starters scored in double figures. Against Rutgers, three of the four starters finished with double-doubles.
Scouting Troy
» Head coach Phil Cunningham picked up his first win at Troy on Monday when the Trojans defeated LaGrange College, 102-69. Cunningham is in his first season at Troy after spending 23 years as an assistant coach.
» The Trojans are led by three players who all score in double figures. Hunter Williams paces Troy with 15.0 ppg, while Antoine Myers scores 14.0 per contest and Tevin Calhoun scores 10 ppg.
» Troy has been a strong first-half team this year, outscoring opponents by 19 through the first two games. The Trojans have been outscored in the second half, 72-71, through the first two contests.
