Simon Wins Singles Flight At Samford Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB sophomore women’s tennis player Elaine Simon wrapped up a strong showing at the Samford Fall Invite with a win in the No. 7 singles flight.
As a team, the Blazers also picked up a win from Caroline Faught on Sunday. Faught defeated Samford’s Carita Moolman, 6-4, 6-4.
“This was a great learning experience for our team, especially the freshmen,” head coach Lisa Jackson said. “We have a lot of work to do to reach our potential, but we showed a lot of heart this weekend.”
UAB has now played two fall tournaments this season and has picked up two flight victories in singles.
Next up, UAB travels to Auburn, Ala., for the ITA Southern Regional on Oct. 17-21.
