BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team will close out its regular season over the next two days with a pair of matches in Birmingham.
The Blazers host ULM on Friday with a 12 p.m. start at George Ward Park and then move over to campus on Saturday for an 11 a.m. contest against No. 58 Tulane at the UAB tennis courts.
Saturday's match will serve both as Campus Kids' Day and as Senior Day for the Blazers' lone senior, Paula Alvarez.
Campus Kids' Days take place across the country as an initiative of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to expose more junior players, their parents and coaches to college tennis varsity team matches.
Admission is free for all fans, and kids are especially encouraged to come out for free food, free contests and free giveaways.
UAB (6-9) had its most recent match -- Tuesday against Emory -- suspended by rain late in the singles action. The match could not be completed. The Blazers split a pair of contests last weekend against Conference USA foes with a 4-3 win over Southern Miss and a 7-0 loss to Memphis.
ULM (13-2) comes to Birmingham riding a nine-match winning streak. The Warhawks, whose only losses have come against Mississippi State and Auburn, defeated Middle Tennessee a week ago by a 5-2 score. They have not lost since Feb. 19.
Tulane (16-5) picked up its third straight win Wednesday with a 6-1 road victory at South Alabama. The Green Wave is 4-1 against six previous C-USA opponents with wins over East Carolina, UCF, Houston and Southern Miss and a loss to Rice.
This weekend's action wraps up the regular season for UAB, which is gearing up for next week's Conference USA Championship. The event is scheduled for April 19-22 in Memphis, Tenn.
