MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The 34th-ranked UAB men's golf team closed play at the Memphis Intercollegiate on Tuesday in 12th place overall with a team total of 906 (298-303-305).
The 12-team field featured four teams ranked among the top 50 in the nation and included two other C-USA squads (tournament-host Memphis and Southern Miss).

The Fort Payne, Ala. native finished tied for seventh overall with a six-over par 222 (72-77-73) on the par-72, 7,305-yard Reunion Golf and Country Club course.
It marked the second straight top-10 finish for Hawkins, who had a career-best third-place finish to lead the Blazers at the Bancorp South Intercollegiate on April 3.
Senior Jason Shufflebotham closed play in 12th overall, giving UAB a pair of top-15 performances. Shufflebotham finished the event with an eight-over par 224 (75-74-75).
Sophomore Thomas Sutton carded a 230 (74-76-80) during the two-day 54-hole tournament and finished in a tie for 29th overall. Freshman Paul Dunne tied for 33rd with a 232 (77-76-79), while sophomore Sam Love rounded out UAB in 37th with a 233 (78-77-78).
