BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced that UAB senior forward Cameron Moore was selected to the 2011-12 District 11 First Team, as voted on by the organization's member coaches.
Moore's selection marks the third straight season the Blazers have had a representative on the NABC All-District First Team (Jamarr Sanders in 2010-11 and Elijah Millsap in 2009-10).
Moore was tabbed a second-team honoree a year ago and becomes the first Blazer since Robert Vaden in 2007-08 (first team) and 2008-09 (second team) to be selected as an all-district performer in two consecutive seasons. In fact, Moore, Vaden and Andy Kennedy (1989-90 and 1990-91 first-team honors) are the only three UAB players to be selected as multi-year NABC All-District performers.
Moore, the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference honoree, became the Blazers' all-time single-season rebounding leader (325 total rebounds and a 10.5 rebounds per game average) this past season. The San Antonio, Texas native recorded 14 double-doubles during the year to rank third in program lore.
He finished the campaign leading C-USA in rebounds (10.5) and blocks (2.4) per game, while finishing fourth in the league in scoring average (16.1 ppg).
Moore closed his UAB career ranked second in school history in double-doubles (28) and blocked shots (137) and fourth in total rebounds (747). Moore is one of just three Blazers in school history to record 1,000 points (1,060) and 700 rebounds in his career.
Moore is now eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Saturday, March 20.
