Men's Golf Team Set To Compete At Jerry Pate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's golf team will compete against some of the top teams in the country at the annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday. The event, which will be held at the Old Overton Golf and Country Club, is free to the general public.
The Jerry Pate is annually one of the top events in the fall season in men's college golf. This year's 12-team field features six teams ranked among the top 50 teams in the nation, according to Golfstat.com.
Along with the Blazers, this year's field includes tournament host and ninth-ranked Alabama, No. 5 Florida, No. 26 UNLV, No. 28 Clemson, No. 40 Auburn, No. 50 Mississippi State, Minnesota, Middle Tennessee, Samford, South Alabama and West Florida.
UAB's lineup will consist of Paul Dunne, Sam Love, Martin Rohwer, Conner Pratt and Thomas Sutton.
The event will be played on the par-70, 7,204-yard course with two rounds on Monday with the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning.
The Jerry Pate Intercollegiate began back in 1986 and is named for the most successful professional golfer in Crimson Tide history. Pate currently plays on the Champions Tour and is active in the team selection for the tournament.
The Crimson Tide have won the event four of the last six years, with defending national champions Texas claiming the team title in 2011.
