UAB Women's Tennis Drops Friday Contest To AUM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss on campus Friday afternoon to Auburn University at Montgomery, the nation's fourth-ranked team at the NAIA level.
The Blazers fell to 7-11 with the loss, while AUM improved to 18-5.
UAB will close its regular season Saturday at noon CT at the UAB campus courts, hosting Troy for Campus Kids Day. The first 50 kids ages 12 and under will receive free giveaways and free food. Saturday's match will also serve as Senior Day for the Blazers with festivities beginning at 11:45 a.m.
In Friday's contest, AUM won the doubles point and then claimed the top five singles positions. The Lady Senators defaulted the No. 6 position.
UAB's Caroline Faught came the closest to claiming another point for the Blazers. The No. 4 singles player lost 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 in a match tiebreaker to Kveta Hajkova. Brittany DeFelice also played a close match for the Blazers, dropping a pair of 7-5 sets to Alina Tseplukhova.
AUM took the top three spots in straight sets as well, getting victories from Ana Veselinovic (No. 1), Jade Curtis (No. 2) and Morgane Zowczak (No. 3).
