UAB Softball Heads To Troy For Tuesday Contest

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB softball team will travel to in-state foe Troy for a Tuesday contest. The Blazers and Trojans square off at 4 p.m. CT.
UAB At A Glance
UAB (31-13) has claimed 18 of its last 24 contests and is 10-2 on the road heading into Tuesday's contest at Troy.
The Blazers have won nine of their last 13, including five of their last seven non-conference matchups. UAB split a doubleheader Saturday against East Carolina, dropping the first contest, 3-2 in 11 innings, before earning a 2-0 win in the second game. The Blazers suffered a 6-2 loss in the series finale on Sunday.
The UAB pitching staff ranks second in C-USA with a 1.54 team ERA. UAB has recorded 16 shutouts and held opponents to a .203 batting average. Leigh Streetman (10-5) has the league's fourth-best ERA at 1.28 after allowing 23 earned runs through 125.2 innings pitched while fanning 134.
The Green and Gold are currently hitting .257 as a team. Centerfielder Caley Walden leads the team in batting average (.359), hits (52) and runs (26), while shortstop Kayla Orr has registered a team-best 21 RBI.
Scouting Troy
The Trojans bring a 27-20 overall record into Tuesday's contest. Troy is coming off a series victory over Sun Belt foe Florida Atlantic. The two teams split a doubleheader Saturday, with Troy earning a 3-2 win before falling, 10-2 in the second game. The Trojans clinched the series with a 4-3 victory in Sunday's finale.
Nikki Hollett leads five Trojans batting over .300, hitting .378, including 18 home runs and 52 RBI. Hayden Gann also has been hot at the plate, batting .338 with seven homers and 29 RBI.
A trio of Trojans have split time in the circle, with Ashlyn Williams carrying the bulk of the load. Williams has a 14-12 record with a 2.20 ERA. Morgan Grove is 8-5 with a 3.56 ERA, while Haley Hutchins is 5-3 with a 3.80 ERA.
Recent Series History
UAB and Troy met in the opening weekend of the season at the All-Alabama Classic on Feb. 12, with the Trojans earning a 2-0 victory. Prior to that, UAB had won the past two meetings against Troy. Last year, the Blazers earned a 4-1 win in February and 3-2 win in April, both coming in Birmingham.
UAB is 2-6 all-time in Troy. The Blazers' last win at Troy came in a 3-1 victory in 2007.
30-Win Mark
UAB earned its 30th win of the season with a 7-0 victory over Jacksonville State on April 15. It marks the second-straight season UAB has reached the 30-win plateau and fifth time in program history.
Streetman's Strikeouts
Freshman pitcher Leigh Streetman recorded 10 strikeouts in UAB's 2-0 win against Kennesaw State on April 12. She topped that performance with 12 strikeouts against East Carolina on April 16, marking the most of her career and most for any Blazer pitcher this season.
