Blazers Draw UCF In First Round Of C-USA Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team will open the Conference USA Championship on Thursday with a first-round match against host UCF. The C-USA office announced the tournament bracket on Monday.
The 12th-seeded Blazers (7-12) will meet No. 5 seed UCF (11-7) at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT) Thursday in one of four first-round matches at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla. The Knights currently sit at No. 75 in the ITA rankings.
The winner of the UAB-UCF match will move on to face fourth-seeded Rice, which earned a first-round bye, in the quarterfinals on Friday. The other three first-round byes went to top-seeded Tulsa, No. 2 seed SMU and No. 3 seed Marshall.
UAB and UCF met early this season back on Feb. 13. The Blazers suffered a 6-1 loss in Birmingham in just their second match of the spring.
