Blazers Continue Road Swing At Jacksonville State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB softball team continues its three-game road stretch with a contest at Jacksonville State on Thursday. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. CT at University Field in Jacksonville, Ala.
UAB At A Glance
UAB (29-11) has claimed 16 of its last 20 contests and is 10-2 on the road heading into Thursday's contest at Jacksonville State.
The Blazers have won seven of their last nine. UAB earned a split against Kennesaw State in a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Green and Gold earned a 2-0 victory in the opener before falling, 6-0, in the nightcap.
The UAB pitching staff ranks second in C-USA with a 1.54 team ERA. UAB has recorded 14 shutouts and held opponents to a .203 batting average. Lauren Webster (10-2) has a league-best ERA of 1.11 after allowing nine earned runs in 57.0 innings pitched.
The Green and Gold are currently hitting .259 as a team. Centerfielder Caley Walden leads the team in batting average (.338), hits (44) and runs (24), while shortstop Kayla Orr has registered 19 RBI.
Scouting Jacksonville State
Jacksonville State brings a 28-10 record into Thursday's contest. The Gamecocks are coming off a 9-1 win over Tennessee State on Tuesday.
Kristin Graham leads Jacksonville State with .477 batting average. Graham also tops the team in hits (41), runs (35) and is tied with Amanda Crow with 12 home runs. Crow also leads the team with 39 RBI.
Tiffany Harbin has carried the load in the circle for the Gamecocks. Harbin is 17-5 with a 2.77 ERA. She has accumulated 171 strikeouts through 128.2 innings pitched.
Recent Series History
The two teams met in the opening game of the season at the All-Alabama Softball Classic and it was Jacksonville State coming away with the 5-4 win. The Gamecocks also won last year's meeting in Jacksonville, 2-1.
Prior to that, UAB had won five in a row over Jacksonville State. Overall, the Blazers are 3-8 in Jacksonville with the last win coming in 2006.
