EL PASO, Texas - Senior point guard Aaron Johnson continues to reap in awards. After being selected as a first-team all-conference performer on Monday, Johnson was one of five players tabbed to the league's all-defensive unit Tuesday as Conference USA announced its specialty awards for the 2010-11 season.
Johnson anchors a UAB defensive unit that currently ranks second in the league in points allowed, averaging opponents to score 61.9. That number would also rank third-lowest in school history. Joining Johnson on the All-Defensive Team are SMU's Papa Dia, who was named the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year, Southern Miss senior guard Sai'Quon Stone, Houston senior guard Zamal Nixon and UTEP's Julyan Stone.

Tulsa's Scott Haralson was named the C-USA Newcomer of the Year, while East Carolina's Brock Young was tabbed the Sixth Man of the Year.
