Academic All-District Women's At-Large Teams
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB junior Jenny Cape has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Women's At-Large First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Thursday.
Cape, a women's tennis player from Oakville, Ontario, Canada, owns a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biology major and has earned UAB Presidential Honors in every semester at the school.
Recently named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second year in a row, Cape is also a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a three-time recipient of the league's Academic Medal. She is a part of the Science and Technology Honors Program at UAB and serves on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
On the court, Cape compiled the best season of her career this spring. She led UAB with a 14-5 singles record, including 11 straight-set victories. She put together a seven-match singles winning streak late in the season and also posted seven wins in doubles.
Her selection to the all-district team means Cape will now be placed on the ballot for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large Team, which will be voted on later this month.
The women's at-large program includes student-athletes from the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
