BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis program signed Douglasville, Ga., product Rachel Daniell to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period.
Listed as a four-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net, Daniell has cracked the top 50 rankings in the USTA South Region in every age group and reached as high as the top 20. She has also been ranked in the top 100 nationally.
"I am thrilled that Rachel will be joining our team for the fall of 2011," UAB head coach Krissy Hall said. "Rachel is very dedicated and works extremely hard in everything she does. She brings with her a wealth of talent and experience. There is no doubt that she is going to make an immediate and positive impact on the team."
Daniell attends the Independent Studies at Johnson Ferry private school and competes out of Atlanta Tennis Incorporated, where she is coached by Danny and Todd Carlson and Edward Frazelle. In 2008, she was the No. 1 player on the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association Challenge Ladder.
Daniell won singles and doubles titles along with the sportsmanship award in the 18's division at the 2009 Georgia State Winter Open. She has also won a silver medal in doubles at the USTA National Open.
