Blazers To Face C-USA Competition At Rice Fall Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team will get an early look at six Conference USA opponents this weekend when it travels to Houston, Texas for the Rice Fall Classic.
Joining UAB and the host Owls at the tournament will be fellow C-USA programs Houston, SMU, Southern Miss, Tulane and UTEP. Lee College and Texas State will also be sending players to the tournament.
Play gets underway Friday with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. The action continues Saturday with one round of each and concludes Sunday with the final round of singles. All matches will be played at Rice's Jake Hess Tennis Stadium or the Rice Recreation Courts.
The tournament features seven flights of singles and four flights of doubles. Players and doubles teams are guaranteed at least three matches in each draw.
The Rice Fall Classic is UAB's final tuneup for the ITA South Regionals, which begin Oct. 22 in Birmingham.
