BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Kenneth Cooper, a senior on the Blazer men's basketball team, has been selected as the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week.
Cooper posted a 3.33 GPA this past fall in his first semester of graduate school. The Grambling, La., native, who has already earned his undergraduate degree, is working on a master's in health education.
On the court, Cooper is in his first year with UAB after joining the Blazers as a senior transfer from Louisiana Tech. The 6-10 center has helped to solidify the paint for UAB, having played in all 14 games while averaging 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Sunday night on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:05 p.m. on ABC 33/40.
Cooper and the men's basketball team (12-2) are back in action twice this week, hosting East Carolina in the Conference USA opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT and then traveling to Tulane for another league game on Saturday.
