We enter the "second season" - league play - with a 12-2 record after pulling out an exciting & gratifying win on the road against Arkansas. The win was gratifying because it came on the heels of one we let get away at Virginia. I have always said the mark of a good team isn't always how well it plays in a so called "big game", but how it responds the following game after it either won or lost that "big" one. We had proven we could handle responding after a win in a big game - see Butler - but this was now unchartered waters, responding after a loss. Our kids deserve a great deal of credit as they fought for 40 minutes to pull that game out. I'm not sure if it was visible or audible on television but WE sure could hear and feel the contingent of Blazer fans that made the trip to Fayetteville to support the team. That was also the case at UVA and we were disappointed we couldn't pull out the win for the fans that made the trip. A 1-1 week cost us our #24 ranking but we enter league play confident we are ready for the challenge facing us. It's nice to open C-USA play at home for the first time in our 4 years here. It should be a terrific environment as our students will be back in classes and this will be the first opportunity many of them have had to see the team in quite some time. I really hope we can get a super crowd to help rattle an improved ECU squad. You have just 8 more opportunities to see this team in Bartow as it begins its march towards March. Our goal as always is to take care of our home court & we need your help to make that happen. Let's make Bartow an impossible place for a visiting team to come into and get comfortable. Our guys feed off of your energy so bring it Wednesday night. We'll see you there.
GO BLAZERS!!
