TROY, Ala. -- Three UAB women's tennis players wrapped up this weekend's action for the Blazers on Sunday at the Troy Fall Invitational.
Jenny Cape advanced all the way to the consolation finals of her flight before being knocked off, while the doubles team of Paula Alvarez and Giorgia Romeo was eliminated in the semifinals of the A doubles draw.
Cape, playing in the C flight, took down Frederike Kahl of Tennessee Tech in her Sunday morning match to earn her spot in the consolation finals. After dropping the first set against Kennesaw State's Agatha Palider, Cape fought back to take the second and force a match tiebreaker, which Palider won, 11-9.
UAB took only four players to the Troy Fall Invitational because of injuries and illness. Krista Cole was the fourth Blazer to make the trip, competing only in doubles with Cape. The duo lost its opening match back on Friday, and then the doubles consolation draws were cancelled after rain suspended play on the first two days of the tournament.
The Blazers will return to the court in two weeks with their third event of the year, the UNF Fall Invitational, scheduled for Oct. 9-11 in Jacksonville, Fla.
