BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's tennis team is set to compete this weekend in the Troy Fall Tennis Classic, its second event of the fall season. Play gets underway Friday at 8 a.m. in a flighted format and continues through Sunday.
In addition to UAB and the host Trojans, the women's portion of the field also includes South Alabama, Georgia State, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Tennessee Tech and Auburn University at Montgomery among others.
UAB is familiar with several of those teams, having seen players from South Alabama, Kennesaw State and AUM two weeks ago at the Fall Blue & Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
The Blazers had four top-three finishers in singles flights at that tournament and also closed the event strong in doubles by winning all four of their matches on the final day.
UAB will take only a portion of its roster to Troy this weekend. Because of injuries and illness, the Blazers will have just four players competing. Paula Alvarez, Giorgia Romeo, Jenny Cape and Krista Cole will all be in action.
Once available, complete tournament draws will be posted at troytrojans.com, the official site of Troy Athletics.
