UAB Softball To Host Blazer Bash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB softball team will host the annual Blazer Bash Sept. 11-12 to celebrate the beginning of the 2009-10 softball season. Festivities include the annual Green & Gold Alumni Game and the Blazer Bash/Meet the Team banquet.
"The whole point of Blazer Bash is to bring together the new softball players, alumni, families and supporters," head coach Marla Townsend said. "We will be celebrating the achievements from last year and will be introducing the six newcomers."
The Blazer Bash/Meet the Team banquet will be Friday, Sept. 11 in the Green & Gold Room in UAB's Bartow Arena. The banquet starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, which includes dinner and a t-shirt. Tickets can be purchased through assistant softball coach, Lucy Bass, who can be reached by phone at 205-975-1759 or by email at lucy1@uab.edu.
The Green & Gold Alumni Game will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Fultondale Softball Complex. The complex is located behind Fultondale Elementary School off of Highway 31.
After the game, there will be a Blazer softball tailgate for the UAB vs. SMU football game at 1:30 p.m at Legion Field. Fans are encouraged to come and bring their own dish. Afterwards, everyone is invited to attend the UAB football game that kicks off at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 if purchased in advance and $20 at the door.
