BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB women's tennis coach Krissy Hall has announced the addition of Krista Cole to the Blazer women's tennis team. Cole, a native of Palm Springs, Calif., will enroll at UAB this fall and compete as a freshman in 2009-10.
Tennisrecruiting.net lists Cole as a three-star recruit with a national ranking just outside the top 200. In addition to playing a full slate of regional tournaments in southern California, she has also competed in several USTA events at the national level.
"Krista's attitude and toughness are two things that really stand out," Hall said. "She is a hard worker who will put in the long hours required to be successful at the collegiate level. Krista's best years of tennis are ahead of her, and we look forward to the contributions she will make to our program."
A home-schooled student, Cole is coached by Marcin Rozpedski, a teaching pro at The Lakes Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif. Rozpedski also serves as a hitting partner for 2008 French Open champion Ana Ivanovic, who currently stands at No. 11 in the WTA world rankings.
Cole is the daughter of Dannie and Patricia Cole.
