Men's Soccer Announces 2009 Spring Slate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB head coach Mike Getman announced the Blazers' 2009 men's soccer spring schedule. This year's spring slate features seven games, four of which will be played at West Campus Field.
"This schedule will give our players a great challenge and a strong test," Getman said. "I look forward to seeing how this young team develops over the next few months."
The Blazers will open the spring slate with a double header on Saturday, Feb. 28, when they take on ACC powerhouse Clemson at 2 p.m., followed by a 3:30 p.m. matchup against instate rival Montevallo. Both contests will be played at West Campus Field.
UAB will then have three weeks off before it does battle against Rocket City United out of Huntsville, Ala. on March 21 at 2 p.m. at West Campus Field.
The following week, the Blazers will participate in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Showcase in Decatur, Ala. on March 28. While there, UAB will take on Lipscomb and Christian Brothers at times yet to be determined.
Following the ODP Showcase, the Blazers will travel to Louisville, Ky. to take on the Cardinals of Louisville on April 4 at 2 p.m. UAB will then close the spring campaign with the annual alumni game on April 18th at West Campus Field (3 p.m.).
Admission to each of the UAB home games during the spring season will be free to the general public.
