UAB Finishes Eighth At Coach O Invitational

TROY, Ala. - Senior track standout Alina Varpiotaite finished with a top-10 time in her first cross country meet of the season as UAB finished eighth at the Coach O Invitational at Troy University.
Varpiotaite's time of 12:07 was good enough for seventh overall. Former UAB cross country runner Elizabeth Hilligoss won the meet in a time of 11:31 as an unattached competitor.
South Alabama claimed the top spot with 43 points. Albany State University (75), Southeastern Louisiana (95), Troy (105) and Birmingham Southern (106) rounded out the top five.
Also for the Blazers in the two-mile race were Sterling Cross (13:44), Jacinta Scruggs (14:05), Nora Mehl (14:57), Adriennie Bradley (15:39), Katryce Sykes-Williams (15:39) and Amber Walker (15:53).
Katrina Harrell (16:57), Veronica Johnson (16:59), Lakeea Gamble (17:01) and Timara McMillan (18:04) competed for UAB but were not included in the scoring.
