BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team returned to the practice field Wednesday and continued its preparations for Saturday's Conference USA game at UTEP.
The Blazers were able to get back outside after rain forced Tuesday's workout inside to Wallace Gymnasium.
Head coach Neil Callaway said his team's practice could have been better and he hopes to see more progress on Thursday.
"Practice was pretty good," said Callaway. "We got some of the competition stuff going and that part of it was good. As far as working on UTEP, it wasn't as good as I think it should be, but we still have (Thursday) and Friday to work on it."
Callaway praised the Miners' offense as one that features a balanced attack. Quarterback Trevor Vittatoe has passed for 1,506 yards while running back Donald Buckram has rushed for 783 yards and eight touchdowns.
"We have to be able to score some points because their offense has shown it can be potent," Callaway said "I think their offense is as dangerous as any team we have seen."
Saturday's game will kick off at 1:00 p.m. MT will be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network and can be heard in the Birmingham area on flagship station WUHT-FM 107.7 with David Crane (play-by-play) and Jake Arians (color) on the call. The pregame show will begin 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
