Strijker Eliminated Sunday At ITA Southern Regional

AUBURN, Ala. -- Evelien Strijker was eliminated Sunday as the final UAB women's tennis player still competing at the ITA Southern Regional.
Strijker, who won two singles matches Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, dropped a 7-5, 6-1 decision Sunday to Julie Mazinova from Louisiana-Lafayette.
Strijker was one of four Blazers who competed at this weekend's regional and one of three to win at least one singles match. Paula Alvarez won a main draw match on the tournament's opening day, and Brittany DeFelice won a match Saturday in the consolation bracket.
This weekend's action concludes the fall season for the Blazers, who now turn their attention to the 2009 spring slate.
