Johnson Named UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore Wes Johnson, a goalkeeper on the UAB men's soccer team, has been named this week's UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Johnson is a two-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and helped lead the Blazers to a pair of shutout victories this past weekend.
Johnson, a biology and french major at UAB, currently has a streak of 144 minutes in which he has not allowed a goal. He has 11 saves and a 1.14 goals against average this season and holds a 2-2-0 record in net.
The Lilburn, Ga., native lost just one contest last season in playing a significant role in leading the team to an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.
The Blazers are currently 2-2-0 on the year and will next be in action on Friday when they hosts Birmingham-Southern as part of the UAB Classic at West Campus Field.
