Men's Soccer Concludes Spring Season Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's soccer team will conclude its spring campaign when it takes on the University of West Florida on Saturday, April 7, at 3 p.m. at West Campus Field. Admission is free for the general public.
The Blazers will enter the game with a 2-1-1 record during the spring. After capturing wins over Montevallo (2-0) on Feb. 24 and Auburn-Montgomery (3-1) on March 3, UAB held its own in its next two contests against professional soccer teams. The Blazers tied the Atlanta Silverbacks of the United Soccer League, 1-1, on March 25, and fell to the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer, 1-0, on March 29.
Getman and the Blazers are coming off their 13th consecutive 10-win season. The Blazers finished the campaign with a 10-6-4 overall record, including victories over five ranked teams on the 2006 campaign. UAB will have to replace Jerson Monteiro, who was the eighth overall pick of the Chicago Fire in this year's MLS Draft, along with five other seniors who graduated.
Getman's 2007 club returns eight starters and 13 letterwinners from the 2006 campaign.
The spring season will come to an end next Saturday, April 14, with the annual alumni game on West Campus Field. Admission will be free for thecontest.
