Von Samson Named C-USA Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior Julia von Samson of the UAB women's tennis team has been named this week's Conference USA Player of the Week after she won three straight-set matches last week to run her current singles winning streak to 11 matches. The Germany native lost a total of just seven games in her three matches last week.
UAB beat Jacksonville State, Charleston-Southern and Tennessee-Martin at home last week to improve to 9-1 on the year. In doubles play, von Samson was also undefeated for the week, playing with teammate Annemieke Elsholz. For the year she has earned a singles mark of 14-4.
The C-USA weekly award is the first of von Samson's career.
Von Samson and the Blazers will be back on the court on Tuesday when they take on Lehigh at 2:30 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.
