UAB Women's Golf Finishes 12th at Waterlefe Invitational

BRADENFORD, Fla. --- The UAB women's golf team finished 12th at the Waterlefe Invitational Tuesday hosted by USF at the Waterlefe Golf and River Club in Bradenford, Fla. Sophomore Martha Hudson led the Blazers in the final round with an 85. UAB carded a final round of 355 and finished ahead of Rutgers and St. Leo in the final standings.
Florida International earned the tournament championship after shooting a 318 in the final round. UCF came in second ahead of USF and Louisville, who finished tied for third. The final top-five position was held by the University of Miami.
Freshman Christina Wentworth shot an 86 during the final round to finish with a total score of 249 in the tournament. Wentworth finished the event tied for 35th, while Hudson had the best round shooting an 85 and finished tied for 53rd. Janey Deimling was tied for 64th after firing a 95 on the final day. Sophomore Ashlee Claydon placed 73rd and freshman Krista Tressler finished 70th.
The Blazers will return to the links again April 10-11 at the Lady Eagle Classic. The two-day event will be played at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss. Complete coverage of UAB athletics can be found at www.uabsports.com.
