UAB Drops Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 75-60

MILWAUKEE -Wen Mukubu scored 19 points and UAB used red-hot shooting to take control early in a 75-60 victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee Sunday night.
The Blazers easily knocked off the host Panthers in the final game of the three-day, six-game round-robin John Thompson Foundation Classic.
UAB (2-1) shot a scorcing 63 percent from the field (17-of-27) to roll to a 44-22 halftime lead.
The Panthers were unable to make a significant dent in the Blazer lead in the second half. They never got closer than 14 points at 74-60 on a pair of free throws by Avery Smith in the final minute.
Junior guard Paul Delaney nearly became the first UAB player in school history to reach a triple-double, accounting for 11 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in the victory. Nevertheless, he recorded is second double-double in as many games, accounting for 13 points and 10 assists in the victory over Radford on Saturday night.
Delaney and Mukubu each earned all-tournament accolades for their performance over the weekend.
UAB also got 14 points from Lawrence Kinnard and 10 from Jeremy Mayfield.
The Panthers (1-2) were led by Smith with 21 points and Allan Hanson with 12.
Milwaukee's Ricky Franklin scored the game's first basket but UAB then ran off 11 straight points. Mukubu tied the game with a basket and Delaney put the Blazers ahead for good with a free throw.
The Blazers will next travel to Laromie, Wyo. to take on the Cowboys of Wyoming on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. CT.
