UAB Softball To Host Pair Of Fall Tournaments

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB softball team will play host to a pair of fall tournaments the next two weekends at George Ward Park.
Four teams will be entered in each tournament, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 14, respectively. Three other area schools will join UAB in the competition with the first game scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
There will be six games played on each Saturday with each participating team playing three contests.
Here are the schools slated to participate in the tournaments:
Oct. 7 -- UAB, Samford, Gadsden State and Alabama Southern
Oct. 14 -- UAB, Birmingham-Southern, Jefferson State and Spring
UAB is coming off an outstanding 2006 spring season as the Blazers finished as the Conference USA regular season runner-up and head coach Marla Townsend was named the league's Coach-of-the-Year.
